Carbon Dioxide Absorbent Desiccation: APSF Conference on Safety Considerations

O'Hare Hilton Hotel
Chicago, IL
April 27, 2005

Goal of Conference: The goal of this conference is to develop a consensus statement to share with anesthesia professionals on the use of carbon dioxide absorbents so as to reduce the risk of adverse interactions with volatile anesthetic drugs. Medical experts and representatives of industry will meet on April 27 to discuss what is known about carbon monoxide production and exothermic reactions when volatile anesthetics are exposed to desiccated carbon dioxide absorbents. A report of the conference proceedings will be published in the APSF Newsletter.
