Richard H. Blum, MD, MSE, FAAP is the Jeffrey B. Cooper Director of Simulation and Patient Safety and Senior Associate in Anesthesia at Boston Children’s Hospital, Associate Professor of Anaesthesia at Harvard Medical School, and a Senior Faculty Member at the Center for Medical Simulation. He is board certified in Pediatrics, Anesthesiology and Pediatric Anesthesiology. Blum has a special interest in using medical simulation to improve patient safety, assessing resident physician performance and healthcare team training and communications. Blum’s research has been supported by several foundations including the Branta Foundation, the Cathedral Fund and the APSF. In addition to publishing and lecturing on simulation in healthcare related topics, he has authored articles and textbook chapters on pediatric post anesthesia patient care.
