Karru Venkata Ravi Teja, MD, PhD is a Clinician-scientist with interdisciplinary training in clinical neuroscience, ageing research and anesthesiology, with a focused interest in perioperative brain health, postoperative cognitive outcomes and brain vulnerability. His research trajectory spans retinal neurovascular biomarkers in Alzheimer’s disease, longitudinal ageing and cognition research, neuropsychological assessment, frailty and multimodal phenotyping, followed by clinical anesthesiology training and prospective research on cognitive changes after general anesthesia. He is currently investigating perioperative EEG biomarkers associated with delirium and perioperative neurocognitive disorders. He is interested in contributing to and further developing research in perioperative neuroscience, EEG-based biomarkers, and longitudinal approaches to cognitive outcomes.
He is ASA Global Scholar, 2026, APSF TQI/PS awardee, 2026, WFSA Raising star award Nominee from India.
He is an Expert Committee Panel Member for Materiovigilance under APSA(Anesthesia Patient Safety Association)-India and serves as an Anesthesia Subject Expert for the Materiovigilance Programme of India (MvPI). He leads the Safe Brain Initiative (SBI) in India under the aegis of APSA, with a mission to promote and protect perioperative brain health.
