Govind R. Rajan, MBBS, FASA, FAACD is a Professor of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Care at the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine, where he also serves as Vice Chair of Clinical Affairs and Chief Liaison for Surgical Services. With extensive training in anesthesiology, cardiothoracic anesthesia, and critical care in both India and the United States, he brings over three decades of clinical, academic, and leadership experience, and has been instrumental in advancing perioperative care systems and operating room efficiency. He is widely recognized for his contributions to airway management and perioperative innovation, holding patents for medical devices such as the LMA MADgic airway.
A prolific educator and researcher, Rajan has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and co-edited a book on mechanical ventilation during the COVID-19 pandemic. He co-founded the Bridge Ventilator Consortium, an international initiative that developed low-cost ventilators in response to global shortages during the COVID pandemic.
Rajan is a Fellow of both the American Society of Anesthesiologists and the Association of Anesthesia Clinical Directors, and has received multiple teaching and clinical excellence awards. His work continues to shape the fields of anesthesiology, critical care, and perioperative medicine through innovation, mentorship, and global collaboration.
