Will I Feel Pain After Surgery?
It is common to experience pain after surgery. The amount and type of pain can vary depending on the type of surgery you have and your individual pain tolerance.
Prior to your procedure, your surgical and/or anesthesiology team will provide you with pain management options, including medications or other treatments, to help manage your pain and discomfort during and after surgery. These options may include opioids, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), local anesthetics, or nerve blocks.
It is important to follow your doctor’s instructions regarding pain management and to communicate any changes in your pain levels or medication side effects to your medical team. Prompt communication will allow them to adjust your treatment plan as needed to help you manage your pain and promote a faster recovery.
