Jerry Cohen, M.D. is an Associate Professor Emeritus at the University of Florida, where he specialized in anesthesia for cardiothoracic and liver transplant surgery before his retirement from clinical practice. He has been active in quality management for most of his career, having served as Associate Chief of Staff for Shands Hospital and as a member of the ASA Committee on Quality Management and Departmental Administration. He founded a software company that produced quality management software during the 1980 and 90s. He was Vice Chair of the Joint Commission Hospital Program Professional Technical Advisory Committee and a member of TJC’s Standards and Survey Procedures Committee. With the American Society of Anesthesiologists, he was Chair of the Section on Professional Standards, a Member of the Board of Directors, a member of the House of Delegates, and ASA President in 2011-2012. Dr. Cohen lives in Gainesville, Florida and Greeley, Colorado with his wife, Sherry.
